Van Gooi speeds up panel construction with the Zeta 630
At Van Gooi, panel building is all about craftsmanship, reliability, and forward thinking. From their headquarters in Hilversum, more than 80 specialists work daily on designing, building, and maintaining intelligent solutions for HVAC control and industrial automation. As demand continued to grow, so did the need for a production process that could grow with it. Faster, more consistent, and less dependent on scarce technical personnel.
That search led to the Zeta 630.
Ready for the next step in panel building
Van Gooi was already working with Via Draad, a specialist in custom wiring, and was therefore familiar with the quality of Komax. The move towards further automation felt logical. Not as a replacement for craftsmanship, but as a reinforcement of it. By automating repetitive work, people are freed up to focus on where they can make a difference.
Fully automatic wire processing as a solid foundation
With the Zeta 630, wire processing has become a fully automatic process. Cutting, stripping, marking, and sorting are done in one smooth operation. The machine processes up to thirty-six different wire types without changeover time, even for small series or batch size one.
The result is complete wire sets that are immediately ready for assembly. Always uniform, accurate, and reliable. This creates peace of mind on the work floor and makes output predictable. Each set meets the same quality standard, which is reflected in the end product.
A different role for operators, with more oversight
One operator operates the Zeta 630. The other technicians receive wire sets that are precisely tailored to their work. By involving the team from the outset, the process could be designed based on practical experience.
Their input resulted in a logical workflow that makes the work clearer and prevents unnecessary actions. Less searching, less repairing, more focus on assembly.
Less manual work, more certainty
Automation with the Zeta 630 eliminates a lot of manual work. Wire lengths are exact, strip lengths are consistent, and markings are always clear. This reduces the risk of errors and means that technicians spend less time on checks and corrections.
The POSSS software also plays an important role in this. Wire sorting is visually clear and manual steps such as twinning are kept to a minimum. This ensures greater uniformity and better traceability within the panels.
A new department for a smooth process
To get the most out of automation, Van Gooi has set up a new department for the machine’s input and output. This team takes care of support tasks such as wire numbering, printing, and plug assembly.
Because these tasks do not require technical training, the deployment of personnel becomes more flexible. Mechanics can focus entirely on assembly and finishing, which shortens lead times and improves quality. Even when things get busy, the work remains manageable and clear.
Opting for certainty and cooperation
The choice of the Zeta 630 was a well-considered decision. Ease of use, stability, and performance played an important role, as did the support provided by Smans and the proven reliability of Komax. The system fitted in seamlessly with Van Gooi’s working methods and ambitions, both technically and organizationally.
Automation as a basis for further growth
Van Gooi looks ahead and continuously investigates how the process can be further improved. The next step is to pre-configure and deliver terminal strips. This can further speed up assembly and reduce the workload on the shop floor.
By combining software, automation, and smart preparation, production capacity grows in line with demand. The process is flexible and ready for the future.
What does this mean for the customer?
For customers, this results in shorter delivery times, less chance of errors, and consistent quality with every order. Van Gooi can easily scale up during peaks in demand, so that projects can proceed without delay.
