Twisting wires together may seem like a simple step, but it has a big effect on how the wire harness performs. Twisting two or more wires creates a twisted pair or bundle that is much less sensitive to electromagnetic interference. Twisted wires also emit less interference themselves. That’s why they’re standard in data cables, sensor and signal lines, and automotive wire harnesses, among other applications.
How well this works depends on the quality of the twisting. An irregular lay length, too much or too little tension, or uneven ends can affect the electrical properties and make further processing harder. Twisting by hand is time-consuming and hard to reproduce. A twister twists the wires in a controlled way, with constant lay length and tension, and gives you the same result every time. You get higher productivity and consistent quality.
Komax: The BT 188 T is a semi-automatic twisting machine that can twist up to four cables. The BT 288 builds on it with a second twisting line. That significantly increases production output, which makes it ideal for larger series.
T-Knust: The T-Knust LEAD TWIST wire twisting system is designed for twisting single cables. It’s a practical solution for smaller series, prototypes or flexible production.
The right twister depends on the number of wires you want to twist, their lengths, the lay length you need and your production volumes. Smans helps you choose. Together we look at whether a compact twisting device is enough, or whether a semi-automatic machine with one or two twisting lines is a better fit for your production.
We’re also there for you after the purchase, with installation, maintenance, spare and wear parts, and training through the Smans Academy. That keeps your wire processing efficient and reliable for the long term.
